Thermal control of multicore system-on-chip

In next-generation Multicore and Manycore Systems-on-Chip (MC-SoCs), the power and thermal "walls" are crucial limiting factors. Static Thermal Management, based on heatsink and fan sizing, is no longer suitable to enable the best computing performance under variable loads in time and "space" (i.e. between different cores). We develop advanced model identification and control techniques to achieve safe and optimal Dynamic Thermal Management of MC-SoC, acting on core clock frequencies.
